SLO STORM G96 U16’s makes historical run at USYS President’s Region IV Far West Championships…

San Luis Obispo Soccer Club G96 STORM received an automatic bid to the Region IV USYS President’s Far West Championships, held in Boise, Idaho June 12-16. The STORM girls representing SLOSC, the Central Coast and Cal South were awarded the bid at the Far West Regional Tournament, following their highly successful run at the So Cal State Cup in April.

Coming off the State Cup Championship, STORM traveled to Boise to compete against other State Champions from Region IV Far West states. Beginning with round one, the girls posted three straight shutouts, besting Nevada 3-0, Colorado 3-0 and Utah 4-0 during pool play. Having won their bracket, the team opened knockout single elimination with a resounding 4-0 win over the Alaska State Champs, at Simplot Soccer Complex.

Playing in their fifth game in four days, the girls lost a very tough decision, 2-1 to Northern California representative San Francisco Mission FC in the Semi Final.

San Luis Obispo STORM G96 becomes the first girl’s team in club and San Luis Obispo County, to win Cal South President’s State Cup, and reach the Far West Regional Semi Finals. SLOSC STORM G96 team members are from a variety of towns and schools in San Luis Obispo County. The trip to Boise was made possible through private and corporate financial support. Thank you to everyone that helped to make it possible.
